“Time isn’t after us,” as the old anthem goes. That we reckon time in quasi-ordered chunks is good for me; good for my inner man. The Year—twelve thirty-ish day months, each with its own name and provenance—seems to agree best with his (sometimes awkwardly expressed) sense of propriety. The yet-unknown possibles of the coming year don’t sway his heavy heart from pausing, on a year’s last day, to lament mistakes left in its passing, and heartily toast the lessons learned. He is me, of course, and reconciling those mistakes with him can be a chore: he’s not as forgiving of them as I might be. But, again, he is me. Tonight, I’ll raise my glass, and set aside, as best I can, those tedious lamentations. When the bells ring midnight, I’ll raise my gaze, and again my glass, and welcome all those yet-unknown possibles of the coming New Year. And, who knows... maybe this year will be better than the last. [=

WTF What? So some innocent citizens were humiliated when airline employees escorted them off an airplane to be questioned by the Transportation Security Administration because their toddler daughter's name was on a no-fly terrorist watch list. The threat was obvious. Guess someone over at the TSA is finally thinking INside the box. Like a little kid couldn't work some kind of dolly bomb? They can work iPhones, yo. SRSLY. LSL - 051012/15:26 We’re told love is feeling. And, in a way, we all know that’s true. Feelings are good, but they’re part of a grander sentiment. If love is feeling, isn’t love also action? And wouldn’t any notion of that nature also be? Some of our most common, human exchanges are, at best, a balance between the two. When we use the phrase, “I remember you,” for example. Meaningful words, no doubt. Meaningful, but passive. “Memories of you occur to me, from time to time.” When said in an active voice, the expression becomes, “I purposefully endeavor to preserve memories of you.” I spent a few hours of last night in the company of some of my oldest friends. We were young together... young and inspired and nearly inseparable. What halcyon days those were, indeed. I’m serially attached to my memories of our many adventures together. Over time, I’ve remembered these friends—puposefully endeavored to preserve memories of them. They turned out to be very respectable men, my friends. I’m truly fortunate they’re still in my life. And I like the way it feels when I love them. [=

An act of love, the good book reads, is why three wise men hit the trail. Good thing, too, as that star could have showed someone else the way. "Dude. I totally feel like following a really bright star." “Toasty, my broham.” And, zippedy-bip, the nativity looks like Bill and Ted do Godspell. So not the same. A gift of love says it as well... from that same good book. Glad tidings of good cheer, family and friends. One P-Town band, electro-dream-pop SuckerForLights, seems to be steadily rising above that convention—and, as one who appreciates good music, I couldn't be more pleased. I never got to see them perform, and I'm regretting that more with every new song they release. The link below will take you to the SuckerForLights Bandcamp page, where you can hear their latest single: To Love, We Swore. If you were EVER turned-on by the 1990s shoegaze scene, this song will soon be on your playlist. Believe that. The band's other songs posted there are also well-worth your listening time. Like new music? Do yourself a favor... get into this band. [=

I believe in gravity. Yup. I sure do. It's a measurable force. Conveniently, gravity explains why everything on Earth doesn't simply drift away. It also controls tons of really complicated-sounding stuff in the universe. Seen from that perspective, disbelief in gravity would pose no threat to its actual scope of influence. So—my expressed belief in gravity is hardly noteworthy. But, hey... thank you for reading this. *Originally posted on Tumblr - 052211 LSL - 050612/14:20 Whao dude! How LONG was that?! Dayum! Oh, wait. It wasn't that long. I've been publishing my blog on Tumblr for the last few months, just like the post immediately before this one says. And look at this. Why, there's even a hyperlink down there to take potential readers right to it. Don't that beat all? Now, things on the Tumblr version are different—and are going to stay that way. The blog name has changed a little, too. And I've altered the format some. Hopefully, for the betterment of the whole work.
I'm going to migrate the 'xog the system' posts from Tumblr over to this page. I'll make sure the re-blogged entries are noted as such. Please use the Comment form to contact me about xog the system, and feel free to browse the rest of >interfacetrip. Thank You... [= LSL - 050612/03:00 |
