"SCOTUS has spoken: The U.S. Supreme Court just upheld the Affordable Care Act . . . This is fantastic news for the nearly 50 million uninsured Americans." Yes! The ACA is good for so many Americans, including women. One has to wonder, then, why the righties are falling over themselves to show how it's the worst thing to ever happen to this country. They wouldn't simply be parroting the views of their daft leaders and batty political pundits—would they? Uh... yeah. Just goes to show; if the horse doesn't believe in water, leading it to an ocean would be a waste of time.

Hammer Downer*
One day, I saw this show about carpentry. It was fairly interesting. Afterwards, I remembered I had a hammer. Sweet! I hit the back of my hand with it. Man! Did that ever hurt. Next, I tried opening my mail with it. That didn’t work, either. Maybe the hammer was broken? It looked okay, but I wasn’t sure. Turns out, hammers aren’t for hitting hands, or opening mail. I probably missed that part of the show. Silly me... *Originally posted on Tumblr 030312 LSL - 062812/21:45 It's really too bad Charlie Sheen has retired from acting. He was in one of my all-time favorite movies: Platoon. I suspect, if given a lucrative enough contract, he'll step right back into it. He might be a bit off-balance, but he's hardly an idiot. Still, his particular talent will be missed by some. I guess this means I'll be waiting just that much longer for The Wraith II... so gotta be made. [=
"WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Supreme Court on Monday turned away a plea to revisit its 2-year-old campaign finance decision in the Citizens United case . . .." You mean the Supreme Court wasn't interested in even reconsidering their decision to guarantee a corporation the liberty to use money as an expression of its constitutionally protected right of unlimited free speech? Really? Huh. In order to do that, wouldn't they first have to pass a rule giving a corporation the legal status of a person? Primarily, that just sounds ridiculous, and potentially very dangerous to the mechanism of true representative democracy. Besides—who'd be daft enough to make such a short-sighted ruling as that? Oh, uh... hang on a sec.
LSL - 062512/11:17 billmoyers.com/robert-f-kennedys-fight-against-hunger/ I can only imagine his horror at seeing so many going without in this great land of plenty. What rational, forward-thinking human being could see needless suffering on that scale and be moved not only to outrage, but to a deep sense of urgency for providing the relief of such suffering? Good thing RFK's political and ideological opponents didn't unscrupulously gain and hoard governmental power, portray themselves as proponents of a religious tradition founded on love and compassion for helping those in need, spend outrageous sums of time and money undoing many of the systematic protections provided to the desperately poor, then showcase that hypocrisy as beneficence to their confused, ill-informed, and often radical and like-minded constituency in an attempt to gain and hoard more governmental power. Oh, uh... wait.
LSL - 062412/09:45 Ghosts In A Dream*
In this dream, I’m on the run, with Major Kusanagi and Batou—from Ghost in the Shell. A news reporter has been impersonating the Major. The reporter was killed, and her ghost sucked into cyberspace. We have some key evidence, but, since we’re fleeing assassins, we can’t process it. Totally intense. Batou turned out to be a pretty nice guy, and Major Kusanagi’s thighs could rip a man clean in-half... a smiling man. [= *Originally posted on Tumblr 022912 LSL - 062312/12:28 Early Gray*
An odd, restless sleep. Woke up feeling unsettled and melancholy, wishing I'd made more of some as-yet unidentified piece of life. Lots of nocturnal calisthenics; my blanket ended up in a wad on the floor. My fleeting dreams seemed to be of wandering, homeless wordsmiths—faceless and obscure—desperate for even slight recognition. A gray sun shining gray down on to a gray land of gray faces. Man in the mirror, indeed. *Originally posted on Tumblr 022312 LSL - 022212/05:05 Back in the early 1990s, guidelines for what was allowed to be said on television were quite a bit stricter than they are today. One afternoon, while at a friend's apartment, we were watching the recently-released-for-t.v. version of Die Hard II—a hugely popular movie franchise then. My friends and I were eagerly waiting to see how the censors would handle John McClane's trademark catch-phrase. As can be seen in this video clip, the overdub they went with was a bit hammy... the dub-flub itself is today about as popular as the actual catch-phrase ever was. [=

Marriage: that mysterious spiritual and physical union between people. Yes, yes—there’s been a TON of alarmist, idiotic yang in the media lately about who can legally marry whom. And, what about that kid on TV who married a piece of bacon? Talk about a huge mistake. Seriously! I’ll tell you this: If I was going to marry a food, it would certainly be one way more substantial than bacon... like lasagne, for example. Bush was an arrogant, imbecilic buffoon—which he absolutely was—just wait until Mitt Romney has a chance to show his true colors. Boy howdy... he's gonna make Gee Dubya seem like a Rhodes scholar.
